Ding is SUCH a SWEET BOY!!!
We just picked him up last Friday and he's doing incredibly well, no problems whatsoever. He's super happy. He loves his treat when he walks in his crate, though he doesn't need incentive. He comes in from outside and waits by the crate door -- goes straight in! We have even been leaving the crate door open at times and he sits in there, enjoying his chew toy.
He is a very fast learner. He already knows what "stay" means before we allow him to leave the crate. He's also almost got sit down as well (we have him sit and take a little breath before he eats his dinner!). He is fine with stairs now, he learned them after up and down 2-3
times -- and he's got absolutely no interest in going across our kitchen
floor, which is just fine with us!
Ding sleeps on a dog bed at night in our room, just like the rest of our (hound) clan. We've not even fostered him 3 days and he already knows to lie down on his bed when we all go to sleep. When the alarm goes off, his ears go up and he starts his teeth smiling thing..... :)
He's very alert and interested in anything moving while he's on walks. Loves to see the world and eager to sniff around. Gets along with our 2 hounds smashingly -- whether it's walking around the house, walking outdoors, eating or sleeping.
He loves the "cockroach position" in his crate (which is when they lay on their backs with their feet straight up in the air!)... does it all the time. Since it's a somewhat vulnerable position, I think that's a pretty good sign he's comfortable. On the next blog post I will upload a photo, it's hilarious! He's even got his eyes open when he's laying there.... it's like we could have a conversation or something.
I can't say enough about Ding -- such a good boy. What a sweetheart. He will be your pal. If we didn't already have two hounds we would keep this guy! We can tell he's going to be a fun dog-- for either a family, a couple, a single person -- or whoever!

Smile
No wonder everyone loved this boy at the track, he's ADORABLE. He loves the outside, just prances along the fence watching birds and squirrels. He smiles a huge grin when you sweet talk him, it's fantastic. Good natured and easily controles on the leash. His smile would really start someone's day our just right!
